We checked into the hospital at 7:30 AM on 3 May 2000. Around 9:30 they began medication to induce labor. Due to a number of factors, at 5:45 PM the doctors decided to do a C-Section. Things went warp speed from there and Allie was born at 6:07 PM.
Christie took this picture
about five minutes prior to
surgery.
One of four doctors prepping Christie for Surgery. Christie did
fantastic during the entire surgery, she was a real trooper. Steve
stood at the head of the bed and watched the entire surgery. It was
a rather surreal experience. He, more than anyone, was surprised
at how it didn't seem to faze him at all.
Steve symbolically cutting the cord. Because of the C-Section, the doctors
cut the cord and hand the baby off to another doctor right away,
after which Steve "symbolically" cuts the cord.
Baby with Mom about five minutes after birth. You can't tell from here
but Allie has strawberry-blonde hair!
