Windstorm in January 2003
We live right in the Santa Ana Canyon, adjacent to the 91 freeway that
connects Orange County to Riverside County. Every year, late October
until (about) the end of the year, the Santa Ana winds blow through. These
are very warm, very strong winds, usually in the 50-60 MPH range. The
first week in January, we had some of the strongest winds ever recorded and
certainly the strongest since we've lived here. The winds blew up to 100 MPH.
Driving through the neighborhood(s) the following days, most wooden fences
were blown over. Ours, too, did not survive. Fortunately, our insurace picked
up the tab.

The only reason the fence isn't completely on its side is a block wall
on the neighbor's side is holding it up.

All the lattice was ripped out of the gazebo.
