Done with Florence, we rent a car and hit the road. Driving in Italy is quite an adventure. Our first stop of the day is Lucca.

Lucca is a small, walled town and it has a tower! Who would have guessed? Here we're at the top enjoying the view.

Tired of walking and climbing towers, we take a breather.

Enough of Lucca, we move on to Pisa. Look, another tower, but this one's crooked.

A view of the top of the tower. Restoration work was just completed this year. The tower is now fully open to the public (for a fee) and you can climb to the top. Towered out at this point, we passed.

And we're on the road into the heart of the Tuscany region. This region has the most amazing countryside. It just beckons you to slow down and enjoy the view (from a lounge chair under a water-mister.)

We approach San Gimignano, the town of towers on a hill in the heart of Tuscany. This is where we'll spend the night.
