Day 7 Tuscany - Day 8 Rome - Day 9 Rome - Day 10 Rome » London - Day 11 London - Day 12 Home

Today is our first full day in Florence.

The Bargello in Florence. During the Renaissance it was the headquarters of the chief magistarte and also served as a prison. Picture the outside covered in most-wanted posters. Also notice the horse tie-ups on the building. Most buildings in Florence still have these. It has a tower we climbed up too. Way too many steps.

A tower (we didn't climb) by the Duomo in Florence.

The Duomo in Florence.

Allie riding the bronze boar.

Rubbing the boar's nose for luck.

The national police. They appeared a little more professional than the local Polizia.

A replica of the Michaelangello's David. We saw the original in a museum and photos are not allowed.

Yet more birds to feed. Allie, with arms crossed, wants nothing to do with them.

Christie feeding the birds in Florence.

All of us in front of the Ponte Vecchio bridge.

On the Ponte Vecchio.

A sign just inside the Boboli Gardens & Pitti Palace showing the first of seven meditation steps. We never found the other six.

A view inside the palace grounds. We visited the palace late in the day and were pretty tired of carrying the stroller (or carrying allie and pushing the stoller) all over the place. We decided that a few more steps wouldn't kill us but we would do it in stages without the stroller. It is difficult to tell, but there were a lot of steps.

Allie spent a lot of time on Steve's shoulders. The climb to the top of the palace gardens was tough without a stroller, but we made it.

Yet another castle on a hill. Where will they stop?

Christie and Mom. They decided the hike was well worth it. The view was breathtaking!

Steve, Allie and Christie

Look, another tower! This one is adjacent to the Ufizzi Museum in Florence. This picture was taken from the roof of the Ufizzi.

Here is one from ground level. The Ufizzi gallery is a U shaped building. You can see two of its sides in this picture.

A street performer in Florence.

A local artist entertaining Allie. He scared the crud out of a little boy just before us, so Allie is keeping her hands to herself. (It seems she had her arms crossed a lot during the trip.)

Making a baloon animal.

It's the pink panther. Sadly, he didn't survive the trip home.

Allie on another Piazza in front of another big church. They must just grow up out of the ground around here, they're everywhere.

Christe and Allie at dinner on the Piazza.

Christie is have a grand 'ol time.
